I am a NY licensed Creative Arts Psychotherapist in private practice in New York. I received my Master’s in Art Therapy from Pratt Institute and have been board certified by the Art Therapy Credentials Board (ATCB). Additionally, I have received psychoanalytic training from Washington Square Institute for Psychotherapy and Mental Health and am currently immersed in trainings from Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy(AEDP).

My professional background as a psychotherapist, clinical supervisor, and program director in NYC social services agencies has encompassed extensive support for individuals, couples, and families with children and adolescents from diverse cultural backgrounds. In my twenty years on the job, I have regularly encountered clients with a history of trauma and loss, childhood neglect/abuse, family conflicts, addictions, and mental illness. This grounding has inspired a special interest in working with clients who are ready to take the courageous steps toward resolving the consequences of untreated trauma including self-sabotaging thoughts, overwhelming emotions, psychosomatic symptoms, and relationship challenges.

I value inclusiveness and welcome individuals with intersectional identities of race, ethnic heritage, class, religion/spirituality, health/disabilities, age, gender, and sexual orientation. I bring deep appreciation and expertise for how these identities influence our perception of ourselves, how we relate to others, and how we navigate the broader world. My own personal immigration experience as an Asian-American has given me a keen understanding of the challenges of being the “other” and navigating the complexities of integrating the various identities we hold. I have a special passion for working with individuals with bicultural backgrounds who are struggling with the intricacies of identity development as they negotiate and integrate progressive values/beliefs with those of their cultural heritage.

As a creative arts therapist, I draw on my early career as a sculptor in NYC and lifelong joy of channeling my creative energies through mixed media. Art therapy invites the exploration and expression of your inner-most emotions and thoughts through a visual language. When we decide to embark on this path together, I share years of experience tapping into this creative flow, helping you to do the same.

My spiritual journey has led me to the daily practice of yoga and meditation. I am grateful for these tools that deepen my awareness and expand my view of life. They enable me to be in tune with the interconnectedness of body, emotions, thoughts, and energy, and see the value of a holistic approach to psychotherapy.

Throughout my career, I have always honed my clinical skills by participating in ongoing consultation and supervision, attending trainings and doing research, and by seeking my own psychotherapy when needed. I am deeply committed to learning and growing as a psychotherapist.
